Rambling Session - Ugly Love (04/30/2024)

This morning I lit up a Black Star Line Dark War Witch Corona Gorda this morning. I really enjoy this blend. It is potent enough in flavor to be enjoyable any time of day, but also not potent enough in strength to not be.

So my wife recently finished Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. She loved it so much that she practically demanded that I read it. I have little to no interest in this type of novel. However, I know how excited she was about it and when I obliged, she got even more excited. I guess because it’ll be like we have our own little book club now.

I have trouble getting into books, tv shows, and movies that are fictional - even if the content is within my interests -Though I did recently read my first novel that I really enjoyed: Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. That has generated more interest for me in reading novels. However, the idea of a romantic novel is certainly not on my list.

That being said, I do want to be more open and try to read different things. So while I am skeptical of how I will enjoy Ugly Love I was happy to start it today to see if I would enjoy it, and because I like to see my wife excited.

I will say, it is at least very easy to read, right off the bat. I am not really into it yet, but I was given the option to stop reading if I am not interested by page 100. Colleen Hoover is so popular, I can’t imagine that I would be disinterested enough to stop at page 100. At the very least I will want some closure by that point, and if it is still easy to read, I’ll be fine.

This will certainly be a total genre jump from the book I just finished - The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of a Donner Party Bride by Daniel James Brown..

Take care,

-Trevor
